Still, the game is far from perfect. While the characters are quite likable, there is not enough backstory pertaining to the characters themselves and not the rival clans, which makes the game loses some of its momentum at the middle point. I am happy that I purchased the CE version of the game and gave the game a second look because it was worth it. There are some creative attempts to spice up the hidden object scenes and the puzzles, which lead to mixed results. There was a similar helper feature in the last Immortal Love, a dragon named Oberon, but Oberon was adorable, graphically appealing, and looked really cool wrapped around the character's wrist as a bracelet, these guardians look rather dull and evil with their blue glowing eyes. These work well given the context of the game, but nothing totally revolutionary. There are no alternative puzzles available. The curse that exists between the clans forces one of them to transform into the animal of their clan so that they will never be able to meet each other while they are both in their human forms. You would think both guardians would be wise and peaceful, especially an owl? No one believed that there was a time when the two Clans were at peace with one another, in fact, they even loved one another. So when I went back and replayed the game today, I found out how wrong I was the first time. Play as both sides of the story in Immortal Love: Bitter Awakening! If you happen to love fantasy type games then I highly recommend that you try Bitter Awakening as it is a game that is sure to keep you entertained for hours. I wasn't thrilled with most of the mini-games because they are the same games offered by 4Friends, some of which I believe was just offered in their last recent release of a different series. The biggest issue I had with this scenario was that the Bear Guardian seemed kind, and just, wanting and willing to solve the 2 clans differences. On the other hand, although the voice overs are clear and easy to follow, they often sound a little forced as if they were read straight from the script. Other than that, the game follows the standard HOPA guidebook. I don't mind easy games if they are fun, but they should also throw in a few more complex mini-games, now and then. You will only use these abilities one time per ability per guardian and there are no repetitive mini-games required to use them, but you aren't granted the ability until a Memory Star is collected by "remembering" something to trigger it.
