Halloween Stories: Black Book

I do not have sound turned on so can't rate that portion. In the beginning there was a few ghosts that pop out at you, but nothing an adult couldn't handle. Here's a recap of my review from the CE version: Nobody knows for certain if Delilah was the culprit responsible for those missing children all those years ago, but the townsfolk needed answers, they needed a guilty party to end their suffering. My review is based upon completed play of the game. Seriously, this deserves the five star review from almost all its critics. Don't let the simplistic nature fool you though, because at the end of each scene, after finding all the items a sentence at a time appears saying "open the window" find door 21, take the diamond, I found this feature alone a very interesting concept that wasn't as easy as you may think. I don't rate many games but this game rocks. As a disclaimer, I did not play the full CE, and I have no idea what extra items or gameplay might be available upon completion of this game. Though not a fan of Halloween this game is an absolute buy. For me that means the developer integrated the the HOPS with the storyline and there is not a lot of fetch and carry. When I had to stop and play a HOP scene or a puzzle it was almost a relief from the scare factor that I felt as I moved around the scenes. Never knowing what was behind a door, or hanging from the ceiling kept me playing this game. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo and a few worth mentioning afterward: 1-Paint by numbers that appear and disappear in groups. This is one very scary game that I think most older players will appreciate.

How did THAT happen? The bonus game is about you once again rescuing Mary - or the alter ego of Mary where Delihah ripped them apart and now she serves evil. I loved going through each scene never knowing what to expect next. I don't care for this genre generally but the excellent reviews on the CE as well as here had me waiting for the SE I am not a collector. Once you start, it is hard to quit playing. Treat yourself! I know that many of you are not fans of this creepy genre, but Elephant Games is obviously pushing the envelope to see how far they can go with a psychological thriller. Everything is done so cleverly it's refreshing. The graphics are beautiful; the originality is delightful and - that hint button recharges almost immediately! Plenty of hidden objects, some are a little hard to see due to the darkness of the sceen. The graphics are beautiful, very smooth with lots of detail, even in areas that aren't critical. If you love Halloween, you will most likely love this game.

I love October when all the spooky games are released but this one is definitely my favorite How did THAT happen? So do you get the CE or SE? There are a huge amount of tasks to undertake in each scene, so please get comfortable. It definitely added to the ambience of the game and Out of Your Mind had it up very loud - to the point that I had family members asking me what the heck am I playing!! I do not have sound turned on so can't rate that portion. Excellent graphics, great storyline Halloween Stories: Black Book Collectors Edition something always going on so you will not be bored at all. I particularly enjoyed the mannequin scene, as you click on a mannequin that has the item, they Wonderburg around to show themselves, and someone has a vivid imagination! It will show Dark Romance: Curse of Bluebeard Collectors Edition how to play a game or what item is needed to overcome an obstacle. I love October when all the spooky games are released but this one is definitely my favorite Wasn't even half-way through the demo when I decided I had to have it. BUT the individual games are great, challenging and sometimes not sure what to do but loved it. I never liked horror movies or even wanted to go near a haunted house when I was a kid even though my dad, being the big kid that he was, set one up in our garage each Halloween. Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by Sward from This game rocks! It's clear to see that the team has been rejuvenated and are trying very hard to create top-notched games.

The music is perfect and the graphics awesome. Perhaps have us lift it to reveal the hidden item? The Mini-Games are varied in difficulty levels, some are far too easy, some are standard favorites, and some are mind-bending, with just a dash of "selecting one affects others" ps: I really hate those I like that the mini-games slowly progress in difficulty, but they still throw in a relaxing "I've got this" quickie now and then. There were several really good ones that involved swapping similarly shaped tiles or rotating discs. Overall, a fantastic and creepy game to play for Halloween. Many of the puzzles were unique, some a bit too difficult for me but no problem, thanks to the skip button. The Black Book is actually a Gadget in the game, but it's not used that often and it's not your usual gadget or helper scenario. From my limited experience with the demo of the CE, I noticed that you'll collect fragments, characters, and morphing objects in scenes. There were times I had to stop and catch my breath as I was playing. On the other hand this game is like There are plenty of ghosties and goulies and things to do, morphing objects and other items to find. The graphics are amazingly realistic and the "horror" scenes are absolutely credible, I don't know what's going on lately, but Elephant Games is on fire!

Once you start, it is hard to quit playing. If you love being frightened, and I mean having some great jump-scare moments, then this is definitely the game for you. It's good to see BF staff in the credits Collectord lately Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by molliesu from Halloween Stories This is by far the most fun Storries: had with a game in quite a while. While playing the game as Collectoes, I actually felt like I was walking the halls and entering Sparkle 2 rooms of the haunted house and other areas in the game. All up the game and bonus took me about 6 hours to play and I enjoyed every minute of it. There are plenty of ghosties and goulies and things Hallowern do, morphing objects and other items to find.

It plays in any season. Although the SE has a couple of puzzles that involve morphing objects, if you're a fan of collections and morphing objects, you'll want to spring for the CE. Wasn't even half-way through the demo when I decided I had to have it. If I had any requests about this feature, it would be that I wished that the puzzles and hidden object scenes weren't on the smaller pop-up windows and were larger. It will show you how to play a game or what item is needed to overcome an obstacle. This game is the opposite of that. Excellent graphics, great storyline and something always going on so you will not be bored at all. When the Book has a blue aura around it, you select the book to tear out a clue and place onto the scene indicated. I never liked horror movies or even wanted to go near a haunted house when I was a kid even though my dad, being the big kid that he was, set one up in our garage each Halloween. The back-and-forth was limited, and a map wasn't needed.

  1. I know that many of you are not fans of this creepy genre, but Elephant Games is obviously pushing the envelope to see how far they can go with a psychological thriller. I think I have only written a couple of my reviews of Big Fishes game - but this is at the top of the list!!!! There's so much good art, that it seems a shame to have it just flash by. Nobody knows for certain if Delilah was the culprit responsible for those missing children all those years ago, but the townsfolk needed answers, they needed a guilty party to end their suffering. To summarize, this game has all of the elements of a traditional hidden object puzzle adventure while also providing creative puzzles with beautiful art.

  8. Your little sister gets her hand on an evil black book for Halloween and she is stolen by its owner. In a fit of rage, they chased her to the point of no return, a horrific and tragic death that would not go without punishment. With all of the trappings of Halloween, with pumpkins, skeletons, crows, and spiders, the game is fun with excellent graphics. The detail is stunning, even in the cut scenes.

  9. The music is perfect and the graphics awesome. Rated 5 out of 5 by frannypanny from Great animation I loved all the scary things that were happening. I think I have only written a couple of my reviews of Big Fishes game - but this is at the top of the list!!!!

  11. Perhaps have us lift it to reveal the hidden item? There were times I had to stop and catch my breath as I was playing. It was suspenseful and shocking -- a great Hallowe'en tale to be played anytime.

  12. I have to admit was disappointed. I would not recommend this game for young children as this is a game that really should have a PG rating or at least one of those generally meaningless warnings that BFG once put in some of the games. Very, very atmospheric, with surprises here and there to make you scare.
