Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by mattiehelen from Finally a challenging game!!! I highly recommend this game! In this series:. Mini-games were interesting, well conceptualized but not very challenging. Think about what it looked like when you found it, before you picked it up, and you'll be right on. Some puzzles are rough; works your brain. I'm a person who is annoyed by cut scenes and cinematics, but everything in this game works perfectly together. Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by royallyconfused from Customize difficulty :oved this games. Not a single junk pile! Music: Suspenseful and energizing vs. And each is found with a butterfly, or having drawn one, and each scene also has a patch of green slime. Other Extra features are fairly standard for a HOPA game; nonetheless, the collectibles as well as morphing objects are extremely well hidden so if you like collecting them, this might be your game. I really cannot say that it is better than some games that have been released so far but it still does make the grade and will end up being my indulgence this evening. I wish there was a way that I could find other games similar to this one on the BFG website. This game breaks away from the old boring standard game play and dares to be a true and fun playing 'Adventure' game.

You are now commissioned by a Mr. I have not played any other games by this developer, but I will certainly be looking for more from them. Not a single junk pile! The puzzles were varied and all offered a bit of a challenge not a cake walk like so many other recent games without being horribly difficult. The only complaint I can muster is that zoomed in scenes don't zoom back out when you're done with them, making you wonder if you missed something. Disappointingly, the puzzles in New York Mysteries are not as challenging as we wish they would be, none of them is either mind-bending or totally unique. This game is not for the faint of heart. The puzzles are wonderfully diffilcult to an appropriate mix of frustration, patience and thought: I like the use of hidden objects to solve small mysteries. It is now up to you to dig deeper and uncover the truth behind the Secrets of the Mafia. Think about what it looked like when you found it, before you picked it up, and you'll be right on. Music: Suspenseful and energizing vs. The music is gloomy, which is a perfect fit for the game; the voice overs are of nice quality, however, characters tend to speak very slowly. I am almost at the end of the game, but took a break to look at the reviews, and decided to give my review since I was enjoying it so much.

New York Mysteries: Secrets of the Mafia [03] w/YourGibs - MAFIA HIT ABOARD SHIP - Part 3

It requires real patience, serious deduction, and serious logic. Hidden Object scenes come in various formats from progressive interactions to standard list; many of them have mini-puzzles inside them to add some more fun to the searching. Although at times animations and movement were a bit clunky, I loved the special effects and ambient sounds in the game. It was fun to play a game without a lot of gore and violence. The puzzles were varied and all offered a bit of a challenge not a cake walk like so many other recent games without being horribly difficult. Get this! Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by Yurnmesis from Excellent! You will have to think how to get the next object to open up in many instances, but it is all fun and good entertainment. I recognize many of the puzzles, but they are interactive and all play out in unexpected ways that are quite challenging. Graphics: Excellent Sounds: Very appropriate to scene and well integrated with tasks. The puzzles and hidden object games are very well done, and there are lots and lots of them. New York Mysteries is a refreshing change for us, not only because the locations are much more current than most of the games lately but also because the storyline is very compelling. After awhile, the puzzles in these games all seem to be the same, but this had some really different and challenging puzzles. I had zero expectations seriously, what a dumb name for a game , and I was blown away.

Disappointingly, the puzzles in New York Mysteries are not as challenging as we wish they would be, none of them is either mind-bending or totally unique. The map made it easy to get around and stay on track. This game should only be marked Insane Jewels Hidden object scenes come in variations and I have to say that I wish the lighting was better with the first HO scene. No mistake about it, this is a winner!! I enjoyed how it moved forward with logic, excellent graphics and sound, the use of old tunnels and trains underground with continued interesting and often surprising twists and turns. The music was subtle and not overly repetitive. Thanks for creating a game with some great backbone. Is it a game that stands out from the crowd? Matters got worse when children of the city have started disappearing as well, creepily, each of them The Promised Land a butterfly just before they have disappeared! The puzzles are wonderfully diffilcult to an appropriate mix of frustration, patience and thought: I like the use of hidden objects to solve small mysteries. Mini Games: Not a fan but tried to do each of them. I really wish every single developer developing games marked "Adventure" would follow Virtual Families template. I can't say enough about this game. Overall, a great value.

Matters got worse when children of the city have started disappearing as well, creepily, each of them drew a butterfly just before they have disappeared! If you miss one, you can check your map to see if you need to return to that location. I thought the story was fine. Of course, you can use the hint option, but if you think and look hard enough you can complete the HOG without using it. Then, as Sherlock Holmes says, "the game will be afoot", when I replay the game again. I love skimming around watching for the hand as much as playing the game! I had zero expectations seriously, what a dumb name for a game , and I was blown away. There is nothing that is different in the overall game play; a standard HOPA with extras that include a series of collectables and morphing objects.

The developers have really made sure that nothing is amiss with game options as they have included customized settings Mystery Case Files: Black Crown are a big plus for me. I definitely Mafi this game! Graphics: Excellent Sounds: Very appropriate to scene and well integrated with tasks. There are also new and different puzzles to solve, and I thank the crew that put this game together for new puzzes and mysteries are better than the same formulas. 1. The map made it easy to get around and stay on track. I recognize many of the puzzles, but they are interactive and all play out in unexpected ways that are quite challenging. If you're looking for a traditional pile of trash to dig through, this isn't your game.

  2. They turn the game into a job. Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by brwnpaprbg from Better than Expected This is a beautiful game with top-notch voice-acting and truly original gameplay really, I didn't need to oil a darn door until deep into the bonus chapter of the CE! All of the HOPs in this game are of the new progressive kind. The puzzles and hidden object games are very well done, and there are lots and lots of them. Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by mattiehelen from Finally a challenging game!!!

  3. Unfortunately they mark all adventure games as "Adventure" and "Hidden Object" so you get the same list of games no matter what you choose. Unfortunately this problem will probably be an issue with many gamers. This plays very much like an adventure game, but where those are often rather lonely, here you get to interact with a good number of other characters.

  4. Hidden Object scenes come in various formats from progressive interactions to standard list; many of them have mini-puzzles inside them to add some more fun to the searching. Music: Suspenseful and energizing vs. I enjoyed how it moved forward with logic, excellent graphics and sound, the use of old tunnels and trains underground with continued interesting and often surprising twists and turns.

  5. This game breaks away from the old boring standard game play and dares to be a true and fun playing 'Adventure' game. There are Hidden Object scenes to search and puzzles to play. Translations of words describing tools are sometimes a little off, and once a hacksaw was called a knife!

  6. Bishop from the Natural Museum to investigate and write an exclusive which means now you are on your own. Some puzzles are rough; works your brain. The instructions were very clear for each one.

  7. The game was a good length. Not a single junk pile! Voice-overs and ambient sounds are very well done but lighting in certain scenes is too dark to make out some important items that need to be collected. The translation to English is pretty good, but at one point you pick up something it says is a knife and it isn't.

  8. Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by brwnpaprbg from Better than Expected This is a beautiful game with top-notch voice-acting and truly original gameplay really, I didn't need to oil a darn door until deep into the bonus chapter of the CE! Not especially but there is something that made me wanted to buy it and I will say it was because of the story: I am definitely intrigued. Some are very difficult to find, but if you scroll around a little hand will alert you to the object. This is why I gave the fun factor a 4. There are Hidden Object scenes to search and puzzles to play.

  9. I really enjoy how the HOs are done. And each is found with a butterfly, or having drawn one, and each scene also has a patch of green slime. Fortunately, I know I can go back and replay the puzzles at my leisure because I actually enjoy the challenge of solving puzzles. This is a big game and took me two full evenings to complete, so pretty long as well.

  10. There is something sinister on the loose and it targeting the Mob; so far five bosses have disappeared under strange circumstance and crime scene investigation reports a strange brown liquid and a butterfly were found at each scene. The only complaint I can muster is that zoomed in scenes don't zoom back out when you're done with them, making you wonder if you missed something. I can't say enough about this game. Liked the investigation method, gathering evidence and then presenting it.

  11. Not especially but there is something that made me wanted to buy it and I will say it was because of the story: I am definitely intrigued. Overall: Purchased this game after reading the review on the latest edition. Sold look, good smooth gameplay and a very likeable main character.

  12. This game has a decent story to it, and it doesn't involve demons or amulets--yea! After awhile, the puzzles in these games all seem to be the same, but this had some really different and challenging puzzles. Bonus is good and long, as well. Of course, you can use the hint option, but if you think and look hard enough you can complete the HOG without using it.

  13. This is very good game from developer five-BN. A supernatural force is getting out of control, with five mafia bosses disappeared with a strange liquid and a butterfly left at each scene. Thank goodness there are no keys left in the door-poke it through-land it on a paper and pull it under gags or any of the countless done-to-death obstacles, except for the fact that everything is locked.

  14. Made you want to see what happened next. Get this! Still, that's a minor flaw I can live with when the rest of the game is so fun. Then, as Sherlock Holmes says, "the game will be afoot", when I replay the game again. Hours and hours of play time, great scenes, and all in all, just about a perfect game.
